Information about SOS Children Village Association TRNC

SOS Kinderdorf International, is an international organisation whose Headquarters is situated in Austria. Its activities in Cyprus began in 1991 with the laying of its foundation stone. Having completed the construction work in 11/2 years, in 1993 the complex commenced its affairs, it consisted of 1 aunt house, 1 guest house, 3 employee lodgings, an administrative building, an open air theatre, a multi-purpose hall, sports fields and a kindergarten with a capacity for 100 children. Following this with the construction of additional buildings, 5 more family homes were added. In 1994 the T.R.N.C. SOS Children's Village Association was accepted as a member of the International SOS Children's Village. The Association, holds an equal status to all world wide SOS Children's Village Societies.

Association carries out its activities in accordance with co-operation protocols with the Government. The SOS Children's Village is kept standing with the aid and contribution of charitable sponsors both locally and abroad. Furthermore, an income is earned from activities carried out (tea parties, balls, raffles, fairs, and the sale of second hand goods etc.).

In addition to these, beneficent people contribute by bringing meat, yoghurt, bread, chicken, fruit and such food to the Village. Our organisation is able to continue its affairs with the strength such financial and moral support.

In December 1996, under the protocol signed with the Ministry of Health, all children in need have been taken under the protection of the SOS Children's Village. Due to this, with the intention of being supportive to both male and female youths, the SOS Youth Facilities were opened.
